Equity shortages and insufficient loan facilities led to the establishment of cooperative banks.Nowadays, almost all cooperative banks over the world is situated in important position within the banking sector. The cooperative banks, in addition to offering loans to their partners with favorable terms, contribute to the strengthening and developing of cooperative structures and carry on activities through taking into account their partners’ interests. The cooperatives in Turkey get individuals developed and involved in economy through operating in various sectors particularly in agriculture. However, the financing of cooperatives are extended by state bank loans. Practices of cooperative banking in Turkey will contribute to the development of cooperative institutions by increasing financing facilities of the cooperatives.
