Abstract:
With the globalization process, countries or firms should develop an export-oriented production strategy in order to enter international markets and then gain competitive power and survive in these markets. The role of metropolitan cities cannot be denied in the export performance, an important variable in the economic growth of countries. In this study, the export performance of metropolitan cities in Turkey in 2021 was evaluated using CRITIC andEDAS methods and 30 metropolitan cities were ranked according to their performance. In the study, first of all, five criteria affecting export performance were determined by using the relevant literature. Then, with the CRITIC method, the criteria affecting the export performance were weighted, and it was found that the most important criterion among these criteria was the number of export sectors and the insignificant criterion was the export figures. According to the EDAS method, the three cities with the highest export performance are Istanbul, Kocaeli and Izmir, in order of; the lowest three provinces were Ordu, Van and Erzurum.
