Abstract:
The ecological footprint is helpful in observing the impact of human activities on the environment. Especially considering the importance of the concept of sustainable environment and the environmental policies of the countries, the ecological footprint is a comprehensive indicator. In this study, instead of CO2, carbon footprint is preferred as an indicator to analyze environmental pollution from a broader perspective. In addition, ecological footprint convergence is examined with a different method. At this point, it is expected that the study will contribute to the literature. In the study, ecological footprint convergence is analyzed in ASEAN-5 countries. For this, the period 1973-2017 is chosen. In the study, SURADF and SURKSS unit root analyzes are performed. According to the end of the analysis, it has been determined that the ecological footprint is stable in all countries examined. In other words, convergence has proven to be valid in ASEAN-5 countries.
