Abstract: This paper focuses on domestic programmes and purposes of the British Labour Party and the German Social Democracy in the 1960s-1970s. Using primary sources and literature, it highlights the impact of both parties’ theoretical re-examination in the 1950s on policies implemented during the 1960s-1970s and analyses both governmental praxis. Finally, I conclude with the crisis of Social Democracy following the collapse of the Bretton Woods system.
