Abstract: Reduction in unemployment, in particular long-term unemployment, has almost come to a halt since 2011. With that, the number of long-term unemployed in Germany has remained at roughly a million for several years now. At the same time, a good three million people capable of work were dependent upon basic income support benefits in 2014 for a fairly long period of time. Having said that, only a quarter of the long-term benefit recipients capable of work are also unemployed over the long term. (IAB) ((en))
