Abstract: Tourism, through its important role in economic development, contributes to the increase of living standard. Tourism is closely dependent on natural and human resources. Romania is characterized by a great variety and diversity of sites of national and international interest. These are the main reasons for which we want to focus, in this paper, on the evolution of tourism in two important tourism regions of Romania, namely South-East and North-East. For this approach, we will use the comparative analysis, in dynamics, of the main indicators used in tourism. For the purpose of our analysis, we use available statistical data, at regional level (NUTS 2), provided by the National Institute of Statistics and other specialized publications in this field.
