Abstract:
The analysis of the degree of development of a territory is usually based on a system of economic and social indicators. The synthetic indicator by which the overall assessment of the degree of development can be made is the gross domestic product per capita. The present study attempts to develop and substantiate the Sustainable Development Index (SDI), at county level. The main objective of the study is to develop the methodology for assessing the degree of sustainable development using SDI, based on five criteria, which included 15 indicators considered representative for sustainable development, with the aim to develop a typology of the current sustainable development stage of counties in Romania.
