Abstract: In the post-accession period, along with the repositioning of various crops and expansion of cereals and oilseeds production, areas under vegetables and potatoes and their respective productions decreased. Nevertheless, demand increased in quantities, as well as in quality and diversity, and the result was a significant increase in imports. The present paper makes a detailed analysis of the main trends of trade flows in vegetables and potatoes, in terms of values, quantities, prices, directions and composition. The results show a significant increase in the share of imports in the consumption availabilities of agri-food products, along with an increase of trade deficit for almost all kinds of vegetables.
