Abstract: Ukraine’ rural area is confronted with many social and economic problems, which have remained unsolved for decades, thus creating a significant gap between the rural area development and the conditions present in the densely populated areas. The development of rural territories is a difficult task, as it requires larger investments, which at the same time turn to be less efficient because of the lower population density. Yet, rural territories cover most of the land and host a large percentage of the population and therefore an active policy aimed at improving life quality and at creating equal opportunities for the rural and urban residents is a must.
