Abstract: The glorious super cycle of mining industry from 2002 to 2010 is gone. Presently, the industry is struggling with a range of challenges concerned with productivity. To identify the productivity influencing attributes, this study specifically aims at exploring such attributes and codifying them with a colour code system in prioritising them in operation action plans. In total, 29 attributes collected from previous literatures and field experts were tested through principal component analysis using a purposive or judgemental sampling of 225 and primary data were collected using a five-point Likert scale from Indian massively deposited opencast mines. Further, based on the loading factors of attributes, a colour codification system was linked to prioritise all impacting attributes. The paper provides an observed insight into the severity-segment to which the productivity hampering attributes belong. The alertness required for each attribute is linked with colour coding. This implication show, priorities can be fixed on productivity influencing attribute in attending them using a colour codification system. Operational level management of mining field can address these productivity attributes in a more effective way. The originality lies in sequencing the productivity influencing attributes based on a colour coding priority system. Implementation of this approach can transform operational strategies in enriching opencast mining field.
