Influencing entrepreneurial intentions: the role of attitudes and personality constructs

Abstract: The objective of the paper is to examine key factors influencing students' intent to create a new venture. Based on previous research, we incorporate both attitude and personality traits' influence factors into a model. The sample consisted of 456 undergraduate BTech students from National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli, India. A multiple linear regression model with attitudes and personality constructs as well as control variable (gender) was estimated to test the hypotheses. Attitude toward money, entrepreneurship and change have proven to be important for predicting entrepreneurial aspiration. Similarly, with exception of the ingenuity personality construct, all the other three personality constructs factors, such as perseverance, variety seeking and strong judgment, are also related to business staring and have impact on entrepreneurial intention among students.
