Abstract:
Indigenous empirical data examining the role employee resource groups (ERGs) could play in South African organisations as a useful diversity management strategy is scant. This qualitative inquiry will define the US concept of ERGs, highlight the need for ERGs in South African organisations, examine the history of ERGs and the role ERGs play in four US organisations, along with its perceived benefits to those organisations. Implications for the field of HRD in South Africa are offered.
