Abstract:
Adidas intended to change the way its franchisee stores managed their human resources. It aimed to structure and benchmark the various human resource activities at the level of each store. The competency assessment approach, which has long demonstrated value to the HR departments in the areas of recruitment and selection, training and development, performance management and in total for the staff's self-development, was used for this purpose. An exploratory study was conducted by using in-depth interviewing and observation. After critically analysing the data, recommendations and suggestions were made to enhance the performance of stores by making improvements in training programmes and adding new dimensions to the already existing behaviours.
