Information transfer among global supply chain participants: a study of relationships between Taiwan and the USA

Abstract: In this study, we identify the participants and activities typically present in a supply chain to determine the links where knowledge transfer is most likely to occur. Based on responses to questionnaires from Taiwanese managers, we identified several key connections between members in the upstream and downstream supply chain. From this study, supply chain members can concentrate on activities most critical between them and their upstream or downstream partners and identify those operations that are most likely to enhance innovation and learning, thereby reducing costs and process times as well as providing for unforeseen contingencies.
