Personality traits and work engagement: does team member exchange make a difference?

Abstract: This study examines the impact of personality traits and team member exchange on work engagement. The significance of this study is to increase the level of understanding of employee work engagement. Moreover, the study contributes to the existing literatures by providing a conceptual framework that demonstrates the mediating role of TMX between personality traits and work engagement. Besides, this area of study is yet to be explored in sufficient depth in the context of UAE since researcher tend to overlook the role that TMX plays in shaping the impact of personality traits and work engagement. Finally, team member exchange was found to have a mediating effect on personality traits and work engagement. Implication of the study and further researches are discussed.
