Organisational knowledge and learning: leveraging it to accelerate the creation of competitive advantages

Abstract:
The proper management of knowledge can create an organisational learning environment that improves and/or creates competitive advantages for a business organisation as it responds to today's business demands in a much more dynamic environment. Despite competitive advantages created through learning, failure to internalise learning leads to loss of ability to accelerate the creation of new competitive advantages. In essence, organisations will need to continually 'reinvent the wheel' through time and throughout the organisation if organisational knowledge is not gained from learning. The purpose of this paper is to examine the relationships that exist between organisational learning, organisational knowledge and the ability to accelerate the creation of competitive advantages.
