Knowledge creation: a meta-framework

Nilmini Wickramasinghe

International Journal of Innovation and Learning, 2006, vol. 3, issue 5, 558-573

Abstract: In today's knowledge based economy, sustainable strategic advantages are gained more from an organisation's knowledge assets than from the more traditional types of economic resources (Drucker, 1993). The paper discusses the multi-faceted nature of the knowledge construct including its subjective and objective as well as tacit and explicit components. Moreover, technical theories pertaining to knowledge creation such as data mining are brought together with social or people oriented theories on knowledge creation including Nonaka's knowledge spiral to develop a meta-framework in which to view key processes, tools and techniques that facilitate effective knowledge creation and its management.

Keywords: knowledge management; data mining; knowledge spiral; knowledge discovery; meta-framework; tacit knowledge; explicit knowledge; knowledge creation; organisational knowledge; innovation; learning. (search for similar items in EconPapers)
