Transaction costs and economic growth: evidence from spirits culture in China

Abstract:
The paper's primary purpose is to describe an approach for measuring the relationship between transaction costs and economic growth. Based on Chinese spirits culture, per capita wine consumption is chosen as a proxy variable of transaction cost. Three hypotheses about the relationship between transaction cost and economic growth are presented and tested.
