The teaching commons: is student loan debt good or bad debt?

Deborah M. Figart

International Journal of Pluralism and Economics Education, 2014, vol. 5, issue 4, 401-406

Abstract: There is a dearth of pre-loan and post-loan counselling for undergraduate students using student loans to help finance their higher education. An assignment on student loan debt for undergraduate students, adaptable to a variety of courses, is designed to close the feedback loop between how much a specific higher education degree programme costs, projected salary upon graduation, and how much student loan debt is affordable given those two inputs and financial planning guidelines.
