Abstract:
Despite the significant role of social responsibility in the process of developing organisational core competencies, in the public sector, its conceptualisation and modelling have little theoretical or practical guidance. The current study aims to design a conceptual model of social responsibility and investigate its outcomes. To overcome such a challenge, in this study, we used qualitative and quantitative analysis to conceptualise and examine social responsibility and its consequences, including the direct impact and the mediating effect. Based on the results of structural equation modelling, social responsibility had direct effects on legitimacy, identity, and personality, and the variable of corporate personality affected organisational identity. Social responsibility had a direct effect on organisational identity through the mediating role of corporate personality. However, the type of stakeholders did not moderate the relationships between social responsibility and variables of organisational identity, legitimacy, and corporate personality.
