Role of Industry 4.0 in manufacturing: an exhaustive literature review and future prospects

Abstract:
Industry 4.0 focuses on connecting the real world with the virtual world in real-time to increase production, boost productivity and increase growth exponentially all the while understanding and controlling every aspect of this production chain. The paper mainly illustrates the current advancements made in Industry 4.0 technologies and the possibility as well as the extent of its improvement in the near future while providing insights into the salient features of Industry 4.0 as well as comprehending and accomplishing the prerequisites of the same. A literature review was conducted systematically by taking into consideration the studies and findings of 222 academic articles. The paper explains most of the idolatry papers from many luminary researchers in the field based on the key components of Industry 4.0 diversely and descriptively along with graphs depicting the popularity of a trend for each key component of Industry 4.0.
