Abstract:
Fighter aircraft is one of the fundamental working resources of air force which plays a crucial role in the completion of operations and increasing the strength. Selection of fighter aircraft is one of the big tasks for defence ministry of any country. The quality of aircraft changes with the variation in attributes and a decision-making procedure is needed for selection. In order to make the process of fighter aircraft selection easy and precise, multi criteria decision-making methods can be applied effectively. The selection process is carried by considering specifications of fighter aircraft such as maximum speed, ferry range, maximum payload and acquisition cost. The present work gives the selection procedure for selection of best fighter aircraft using three selected methods viz: using analytical hierarchy process, multi-objective optimisation by ratio analysis method, and Viekriterijumsko Kompromisno Rangiranje, etc. for ranking the aircraft. The rankings of fighter aircraft are compared based on their properties. Thus, the proposed methods help to evaluate and rank the fighter aircrafts.
