Abstract:
The machining performances of Ti-6Al-4V, SS316, and WC work pieces were investigated in this study employing electro-discharge machining (EDM) while taking various thermo-physical parameters into consideration. Surface roughness, material removal rate, tool wear rate, radial overcut, surface fracture density, and surface hardness have all been explored utilising a variety of input parameters, including discharge current, pulse on time, and pulse off time, to determine their respective values. In the present research work three different work-piece materials with different thermo-physical properties such as thermal conductivity, thermal diffusivity and melting point have been considered which is new as compared to earlier research work. Among the materials employed in the creation of the work pieces, there is a wide range of performance characteristics. When the current increases, the rate at which MRR, TWR, and radial overcut in SS316 go up is much faster than in Ti-6Al-4V and tungsten carbide.
