International Journal of Process Management and Benchmarking, 2024, vol. 18, issue 4, 478-510

Abstract: In real life, many products like vegetables, fruits, dairy products, medicines, fancy products, etc., exhibit time-dependent deterioration. In this paper, a multi-stage production inventory model for time-dependent deteriorating items under trapezoidal demand, backlogging, and time-dependent cost values is described. Shortages are allowed with complete and partial backlogging. Demand depends on the trapezoidal type and all cost values are depending on the time-varying function. The main objective is to determine the optimal production quantity and the optimal total cost for the proposed model. Finally, numerical examples are provided to illustrate the theoretical results and a sensitivity analysis of the parameters with respect to the stability of optimal solution is also carried out by using MATLAB R2022b.
