Abstract:
While extant literature has advanced the understanding of entrepreneurial intentions, a comprehensive synthesis of current research and identification of critical gaps are necessary. This study systematically reviews the entrepreneurial intention literature, focusing on antecedents, mediators, and moderators. This review employed a systematic literature review using the theory-context-characteristics-methodology (TCCM) approach to analyse and synthesise recent studies on entrepreneurial intention. The review established a conceptual framework delineating the antecedents, mediators, and moderators of entrepreneurial intention. Critical insights from the literature support the implementation of educational programs and policies by academics and practitioners. Furthermore, the review identified gaps in the use of alternative theories, diverse contexts, unique characteristics, and varied methodologies, suggesting directions for future research.
