Evaluating exploits of Indian entrepreneurs through maintenance practices for realising the overall organisational goals and objectives

Abstract: Until very recently, maintenance management was more of a traditional skill-based management discipline which depended on experience, guts and luck. Today, the question 'Is change in maintenance management necessary?' is increasingly being asked. The continual modernisation and the pressing need for higher productivity have resulted in the increased development and use of sophisticated and complex machines and equipment. Moreover, maintenance processes can be streamlined to eliminate waste and produce breakthrough performance in areas valued by customers. The research has been carried out in the small and medium scale manufacturing organisations in the country, to study the maintenance related issues and achievements realised as a result of synergistic implementation of maintenance practices. The approach of the study has been directed towards justification of maintenance practices for their support to competitive manufacturing in the Indian industry. The study has been focused upon evaluating exploits of Indian entrepreneurs with maintenance practices, for realising the overall organisational goals and objectives.
