Smart cities - security mechanisms and standards

Abstract: The primary goal of developing a smart city anywhere in the globe is to improve the quality of life while fostering economic growth without jeopardising the ecological system's equilibrium. This study examines the requirements of smart cities for increased urban operational effectiveness. The authors elaborated on the standardisation of the TrendMicro cybersecurity checklist for smart cities. In a nutshell, this article emphasises the standardisation of software, hardware, networking, security, and interoperability to develop the various civic service domains in the construction of smart cities. This research article's sole source of secondary data was the internet. After the content analysis completion, a thematic narration is used to analyse the data for international-standard connotations. The novelty of this study is that this is first of its kind research paper in this field. All stakeholders including urban citizens, smart city investors, designers, municipalities, governments, and corporates will benefit from this paper.
