Abstract: In language education, both teachers and learners strive to develop the different skills needed to practice and use language by applying various learning strategies. Recent technologies being utilized include artificial intelligence (Al)-driven tools. This study reports research findings on the effect of using an AI tool, InstaText, on the writing performance of Saudi students. Indeed, 26 Saudi students were recruited for this study in a quasi-experimental mixed-method analysis that examined the impact of using InstaText on their writing and gathered insights into perceptions of its use. Quantitative results showed that using InstaText significantly improved students' writing scores; they had consistent gains in vocabulary, organization, and mechanics over time. Qualitative findings indicated that students found the AI tool to be helpful for basic feedback and error detection. However, they preferred teacher feedback for deeper, more nuanced writing support. Overall, while InstaText was seen as a useful aid, teacher input remained more valued.
