Abstract:
This paper does five things: (1) relates earlier developments in management thought to modern organization views; (2) discusses some aspects of decision making, the systems concept, and man/machine systems; (3) identifies the overall goals which an integrated information system should serve; (4) suggests an approach to be followed by information system planners; and (5) attempts to foresee how a widespread use of information systems may affect organization structure and management practice.
