Abstract:
The dispersion of the acceleration noise distribution of an automobile is measured from the velocity-time trace on a tachograph chart. The method is convenient and rapid and has enabled a large experimental program to be carried out. The acceleration dispersion has been compared for different highways, different drivers, and different traffic conditions, and the results obtained suggest that the dispersion is a useful traffic parameter.
