Abstract:
This paper considers the duel between two contestants with unlimited ammunition supplies, each one firing at the other. It assumes that the damage resulting from a round of fire is measurable and has a probability distribution. The cumulative damage function depends both on time and on number of rounds fired. For given rates of fire, damage functions, and other parameters, the paper calculates the probabilities that a given side will win.
