Abstract:
Brown and Rutemiller have given a procedure for deciding whether or not to continue a fixed-sample test in the face of early failures. This paper presents a method of calculating one of the key quantities of the procedure; it eliminates the need for numerical-integration techniques in many applications and can be used if tables of the binomial distribution or tables of the incomplete beta function are available.
