Abstract:
Proper rearrangement of equality constraint equations can simplify considerably an otherwise complex optimization problem. This note shows that, with proper rearrangement, the equations describing a moderately complex chemical process can be solved seriatim. With such a system structure, the optimization procedure presented by Luus and Jaakola [ A. I. Ch. E. J. 19, 760 (1973)] can be applied readily.
