Abstract: Robert G. Brown's Statistical Forecasting for Inventory Control sketched out a dynamic inventory-control system with random demand and random lead time. For some reason, the system has had neither wide use nor further scrutiny. To rectify the situation, this paper puts both a more mathematical and a more meaningful basis under the system, and then discusses its actual operation and some possible extensions.
