Abstract:
We develop a unified approach for a generalized Lagrange multiplier problem with one multiplier. The major result is a convergence theorem for interval reduction. Comparative analysis of bisection, linear interpolation, and tangential approximation reveals the relative advantages of tangenital approximation.
