Abstract:
Will operations research be “the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever?” (Hebrews 13:8). Taking the past success of OR as their point of departure, these comments view its future as hinging on aspects of professionalism: identification, standards of quality, outreach to new areas of social concern, and a critical study of its own work and approaches.
