Abstract:
This article is based on a talk that I gave at the 1988 TIMS/ORSA meeting in Washington, D.C. about developments in search theory since the Lanchester Prize for 1975 was awarded to me for Theory of Optimal Search . The answer to the question in the title is that a lot has happened, particularly in the area of the search for moving targets and in the use of computers in search theory and applications.
