Abstract:
This paper by Leslie C. Edie appeared in the November 1955 issue of this Journal (vol. 3, p. 513). The problem is that of predicting the frequency of multiple breakdowns to be expected at a future time under conditions somewhat different from those prevailing when the data were collected. Unfortunately, Edie's method contains several errors in addition to the error which he found and eliminated.
