Abstract:
I feel that it would be appropriate if the Journal would publish some highlights of the life of A. K. Erlang, whose ideas and work in telephony anticipated by almost half a century the modern concepts of queuing theory. The following remarks are all taken from The Life of A. K. Erlang , by E. Brockmeyer and H. L. Halstrom ( Transactions of the Danish Academy of Technical Sciences , 1948, No. 2, pp. 16--18).
