A Comparison of the Original and Revised Simplex Methods

Abstract: The procedure for the revised simplex method is outlined by making use of only the rudiments of matrix algebra. For a typical simplex iteration, a step by step comparison is made between the calculations for the revised and the original method. Finally, several reasons for recommending the revised method are briefly discussed.
