A Measure of Effectiveness for a Barrier Type of Surface-to-Air Defense

Abstract: Two criteria, effectiveness and uncertainty, for a surface-to-air missile defense against enemy air attack are defined and examined. It is shown how they may serve as criteria for choice of defensive deployments of a limited number of batteries in a limited region.
