Abstract:
Urban peak period traffic is unique in that a significant portion of all trips are made by persons making daily trips to and from work. The effect that such an underlying daily schedule may have upon the stochastic properties of urban traffic demand is discussed, and the existence of such a schedule is investigated empirically for five locations.
