Abstract:
Elzinga and Hearn ( Trans. Sci. 7, 100--103) have presented a simplified formulation of a multifacility location problem with rectangular distances as a linear program. This paper describes a further simplification which permits a closed-form solution. It is shown that the former simplification can be beneficially used to solve a different version of the problem.
