Abstract: Glover and Klingman (Glover, F., D. Klingman. 1973. A note on computational simplifications in solving generalized transportation problems. Trans. Sci. 7 351--361.) give an extremely efficient procedure for updating the basis and dual evaluators in the solution of the generalized transportation problem. This note poses a shorter and simpler proof of the results of Glover and Klingman. Authors' closure by F. Glover (University of Colorado, Boulder) and D. Klingman (University of Texas, Austin, Texas) follows.
