Abstract: The purpose of this note is to study the calibration of the probabilistic assignment method of Dial ( Trans. Res. 5 , 83--111, 1971). The estimation of the parameters of the method is performed using the maximum likelihood principle and uses the observed traffic data. The estimates thus obtained can be evaluated with already existing algorithms.
