Abstract: Az Európai Unió számos országában a részmunkaidős foglalkoztatás elterjedése segíti a foglalkoztatottsági szint fenntartását vagy bővítését és hatékonyabb, intenzívebb munka- és munkaidő-szervezést tesz lehetővé. Magyarország a részmunkaidős foglalkoztatás arányát tekintve az európai uniós rangsorban az utolsó helyek egyikén áll, ami felhívja a figyelmet a munkaerő-gazdálkodás kihasználatlan tartalékaira is, és megmutatja, hogy e rugalmas foglalkoztatási forma alkalmazásával növelhető a foglalkoztatottság szintje.
