Abstract: A privatizáció üteme alapján Magyarországot a gyors reformerek közé szokás sorolni. A szocialista vállalatok kezdeti megújulása azonban sok esetben puszta méretcsökkentésre és az erőforrások kicsemegézésére (valamint névcserére) korlátozódott. Az átalakult cégek hatékonyabbá váltak, de a rendszerváltás elején követett úton, külső tőke bevonása nélkül nem fejlődhetnek, ezért a hajdani állami szektor leépülése - a tőkebefektetésre érdemes cégek kiválasztódása - még ma is tart. A tanulmány különböző adatforrásokból merítve, majd egy nagyüzem átalakulásának bemutatásával próbálja érzékeltetni a kezdeti gyors reformok és a technológiai megújulás elhúzódása közötti kapcsolatot.* Journal of Economic Literature (JEL) kód: J3, L2, P2.
