Abstract:
China has experienced very impressive economic growth over the past three decades and has raised millions of people out of poverty in a short period of time. This economic miracle has brought prosperity to millions and extreme wealth to some. China now faces slower growth and a number of other obstacles which may undermine its stability. This paper explores the problems facing modern China by looking back at history and using current social science research as a predictor of potential unrest and political instability.
