Abstract:
Adults often misunderstand children’s unique grief and trauma experience, and superimpose their own perspective on what children’s behaviours must mean. The journey to healing grief and trauma weaves throughout a child’s development years. Sometimes a child’s grief is obvious and visible. Sometimes it is not. However, it is always in the background, influencing his and her emotions, behaviours, interactions, and communication. This paper points out the main peculiarities of children’s expressions of grief and presents counselling interventions for working out positive outcomes.
