Abstract:
This study is devoted to how the persuasion manifests in communication. The argument presents the theme in relation with the computerization process of the contemporary world, with the permanent and sometimes custom challenge form the modern man who must be able to decrypt latent or hidden messages and to protect himself. After a review of attempts to define the concept of communication which is an inherent phenomenon of the existence, there are some conceptual clarification on the concepts of "human communication", "mass communication" and "public communication" (the latter two being those in the context of which there have been developed the researches on persuasion and manipulation). Considerations are then presented on how persuasion works, and the five categories of public that may occur depending on the attitude towards the speaker and / or to the speech. The part dedicated to persuasion starts from the attempt to define the term and then insists on means of expression of persuasion in communication, emphasizing the "ways of discoursive persuasion, the operations which constitute it, the factors that underline it and the discursive structure which favors it starting from the persuasive discourse model proposed by Bertrand de Jouvenel. The last part outlines what differentiates persuasion from handling, mostly positive nature in comparison with the latter and the main strategies of resistance to various forms of manipulation, made by Philip Zimbardo.
